Circulation only works if nothing is lost, damaged or forgotten. This is the machinery that makes living with original art unremarkable rather than nerve-wracking.
Insurance
Every work is insured at agreed value from the moment it leaves storage until it returns — in transit, during installation, and in your home. Cover includes accidental damage. Members are not liable for ordinary domestic accidents.
Transport
Fine-art carriers only, in climate-stable vehicles, with soft-crating appropriate to the medium. No third-party couriers, ever, regardless of distance.
Installation
Our technicians hang the work using fixings suited to your walls and advise on lighting. De-installation and making good are included when the work moves on.
Condition reporting
Photographic and written reports are made before dispatch and on return. Reports stay with the work permanently and are visible to the owner and to us — never to the next member, which keeps everyone honest.
Conservation
Works are inspected between placements and treated by accredited conservators where required. Cost is borne by the club.
Provenance
Acquisition documents, artist agreements and full custody history are held for every work. Members receive a record of everything they have lived with.
Privacy
Member addresses are known only to our logistics team. Owners are not told who holds their work, and members are not told who owns it.
What we ask of members
Very little, and nothing onerous. Keep works out of direct sunlight and away from open fires, radiators and steam. Avoid bathrooms and kitchens for anything on paper. Do not clean the surface — tell us instead.
Do not move a work between rooms yourself; we will do it, at no cost, as often as you like. This is not fussiness. Most damage in private collections happens during unplanned relocation on a Sunday afternoon.
If something happens, tell us the same week. There is no penalty, and early treatment is the difference between a conservation note and a loss.
Care is the whole product.
Everything else — the curation, the exchange, the invitations — depends on works arriving intact and leaving the same way.
